“A chaos of mind and body - a time for weeping at sunsets and at the glamour of moonlight - a confusion and profusion of beliefs and hopes, in God, in Truth, in Love, and in Eternity - an ability to be transported by the beauty of physical objects - a heart to ache or swell- a joy so joyful and a sorrow so sorrowful that oceans could lie between them...”
― T.H. White, The Once and Future King
When I was young, I was fascinated by machines. I would take apart anything that was broken just to see how it worked, and if I could fix it – toys, t.v.s, telephones, watches, and yes, cameras. I bought my first camera (a Pentax ME) at an antique store when I was thirteen years old. This was the first time I looked at something after taking it apart, playing with all the buttons and using up a roll of film, that I genuinely understood how it worked. No circuit boards, nothing beyond my understanding. Simple: Light, and way to capture it.
Since then I was hooked on photography. My pictures were terrible, I ruined countless rolls of film, but I loved the process. Eventually, when I was sixteen, a friend asked me to photograph his wedding – I said yes and went to a pawn shop and bought my first digital camera. It wasn't good, and I didn't know how to use it. I spent the next few months applying my knowledge of film photography to digital, photographed my friend's wedding for $50, and fell in love with storytelling in a whole new way. The quote at the beginning of this page is from my favorite book, one that I've read several times. This is the quote that made its home in my mind when I started capturing weddings at sixteen years old. I want to tell the kind of story that lasts a lifetime. I want to capture images that bring you home, to those quiet moments in your heart that, no matter the time that passes between them, seem still, and timeless.
How many weddings have you shot?
I have had the privilege of documenting over 50 weddings since I started in 2014
Do you travel for weddings?
Of course! I've been all over the United States. If you're in for a destination wedding, you can be the first to take me abroad!
Do you limit your bookings each year?
Because of my constant need to provide the highest quality work while also maintaining a work-life balance, I do limit the number of events I take each year to 12.
Do you offer video?
No, I don't currently offer video, but have several wonderful recommendations!
Is there anything we should be asking you?
Planning a wedding can be overwhelming. Don't worry, my process is simple & easy going. I don't need much from you to do what I do. After you book your date, I'll send you some information that will help you plan your day from a photography standpoint (including tips that will help you avoid some of the common mistakes made when it comes to planning your day for photos). Once you have a preliminary timeline, I'll be able to review and make sure I have the time I need to do what I do. That's it! I'll always a phone call, text, or email away if you ever have any questions.
What are some of your favorite local venues you have photographed at?
